The backrest(1) for a seat is fixed to and anchorage element, which is plate shaped, which sits over the seat surface(3). The anchorage and the backrest have surfaces such that in the flat position of the anchorage element it lies on front and the back edges of the seat surface. The anchorage element also lies in the area behind the edge of the upper surface and protrudes upwards from the backrest at the lower surface. It is hooked(8) over the front upper surface of the seat surface.
