The drive assembly (1) is coupled to the screw compactor units (2,3) by a belt gear (4) which has at least one transmission belt (40) which runs in a transmission plane over the first belt pulley (22), the second belt pulley (32) and the drive belt pulley (12). The power transferred by the belt gear is greater than 10 kW. The drive assembly is mounted relative to the transmission plane on the side opposite the screw compressor units and can be fitted on a support (5) which rocks in the transmission plane direction.
