The underbody construction has an upper and lower underbody, and an exhaust gas system next to it. The construction has a storage space for vehicle parts whereby the upper (5) and lower body (10) of the space are separated by rails (11,12,13). Side walls (25,26) under the space, upper and lower bodies, and the rails define flow channels (27,28). The channels have intake openings (29,30) at the front ends (14), and discharge openings (31,32) at the rear ends (15) and in the side walls. The channels increase in size in a funnel-shape from the front to the back. The air flowing through the channels during travel is discharged at the back (2) of the vehicle.
