The invention concerns a sealed edge connection and a method of producing the same between a base layer and a structural member in underwater or overflow regions of bodies of water. In this respect, a first base layer (3) is brought up to the structural member (1) and compressed. A layer of liquid synthetic rubber is then applied to the abutment edge (7) between the first base layer (3) and the structural member (1). On contact with air, the liquid synthetic rubber is transformed into soft-rubber-like synthetic elastomers (6) which adhere to the surface (5) of the structural member (1). The watertight connection to the first base layer (3) is also brought about in that the first base layer (3) is stabilized in the region of the edge connection and undergoes an adherent connection to the synthetic rubber, or a mat (8) of commercial or India rubber is laid on the first base layer (3) and set in the still liquid synthetic rubber. In the latter case in particular, as a final measure, a second base layer (10) is applied to the first base layer (3) and to the mat (8) laid thereon.
