<p>The invention relates to a dental instrument for removing carious dentine in connection with chemical-mechanical treatment of caries by means of a caries-dissolving solution (preparation) applied to the caries for loosening the carious tissue. The instrument comprises at least one non-rotating tool-head (2) with a number of scraping edges (3) for scraping away the loosened carious dental material. Between the scraping edges (3) there are formed open spaces (4) admitted to carry (transport) drops of the solution used for the chemical-mechanical treatment method up to the carious tooth site. In order to improve the ability of the instrument to catch and carry drops of the solution the tool member is provided with specific drop catching means (6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12) in connection with the tool head (2) of the instrument. The drop catching means can be made in the form of collar members, flanges, surface area enlargement sections, projecting parts, grooves, holes, channels or the like.</p> |
