<p>A mask main body (34) of a shadow mask is faced oppositely to a phosphor screen, has a main surface section (31) having many electron beam passing holes and a skirt section (33) provided around the main surface section (31) with a no-hole section (32) in between, and is formed in a rectangular shape. In the skirt section (33), a plurality of rectangular openings (38a) elongated in the direction of the major axis (X) of the main body (34) is formed and, in the no-hole section (32), a plurality of rectangular recessed sections (47) elongated in the direction of the major axis (X) of the main body (34) is formed. The openings (38a) and recessed sections (47) are arranged within an extent having a width of about 1/4 of the length (W) of the main body (34) in the direction of the major axis (X) with the position apart from the minor axis (Y) of the main body (34) by about 1/3 of the length (W) of the main body (34) in the direction of the major axis (X) at the center.</p> |
