A beverage maker for use in a microwave oven. The beverage maker having a water reservoir (16) capable of containing a liquid and a filter compartment (14) for holding particulate material mounted within the water reservoir. A bottom cover (8) is connected to the water reservoir. A cup-like filtrate reservoir (6) is integrally connected to the water reservoir, forming a filtrate passage (22) between the water reservoir and filtrate reservoir. A filtrate splash cover (12) detachably connected to the filtrate reservoir deflects liquid into the filtrate reservoir. Upon heating with microwave energy, the liquid and steam located in the water reservoir is pressurized and directed through the filter compartment containing the particulate material, through the filtrate passage and into the filtrate reservoir.
