Location device for rail-mounted vehicle for automatic location of vehicle within track network

The location device uses a track network atlas onboard the vehicle, using a memory (9) holding the track distances in kilometres and specific data for individual track sections, with location of the vehicle position by correlating information provided by sensors (3-7) mounted on the vehicle with the atlas information. The onboard memory is loaded with information provided by an external databank (10) via a filter (12), for extracting information relative to the local area, controlled by an onboard selection module, with corresponding selection of the relevant onboard sensors.
