A piece of fabric or the like (14) is fed under a work head (11) by driving means (13). The work head has a nozzle (4) for forming a coating of an adhesive material (26). The piece of fabric (14) is then guided, simultaneously with a second piece (34), under a heating press (32) in order to join the two pieces of fabric or the like by bonding together the assembly regions (22, 42). The invention may advantageously be used to replace sewing of clothing articles or the like.
