A method for the thermal treatment of bushings, particularly for tracked vehicles and the like, which provides for a first step, during which external quench hardening of the bushing is performed by heating through to approximately {fraction (7/10-10/10)} of the thickness of the bushing, followed by cooling with quenching liquid; then a second step for internal quench hardening is performed by heating the bushing through to approximately {fraction (4/10-7/10)} of the thickness thereof and then cooling with quenching liquid; the method ends by performing a step for the stress relieving of the bushing. A product at low costs can thus be obtained which has better wear resistance and fatigue strength than observed in bushings obtained with conventional methods.
