A Uniquely programmed, radio signal remotely operated, vehicle or vessel engine, motor, or drive system immobilisation device is fitted to a fuel line, electrical circuit, drive mechanism, or other interruptable point of the propulsion system. The device comprises a Radio Receiver, a Programmable Logic Computer (PLC), and a Drive Control Unit. The radio receiver is tuned to a preset frequency and the PLC is uniquely programmed to respond to it's own activation 'ON' or 'OFF' codes. The drive control unit immobilises the vehicle or vessel. Via an encoded signal the device can be activated at any time and location by the agency responsible for its activation (e.g. police or coast guard). The device has a safety feature that stores the 'OFF' command to the drive control unit until such time as the vehicle or vessel stops moving. There are also optional outputs that will operate other systems to help draw attention to the vehicle or vessel, such as hazard lights, horn/siren, door locks, steering locks, alarms, lights, emergency beacons, or radio location systems. Those of the optional systems that do not pose a hazard can be activated immediately the remote signal is received. The 'hazard systems' e.g. steering locks, (like the drive system immobiliser), will be activated only when the vehicle or vessel stops moving. When an 'ON' coded signal is received all systems will return to normal operation. |
