The operating system for a vehicle comprises a driver side and a co-driver side operating unit (2,3), a travel side and a co-driver side adjusting unit (4,5). The driver side operating unit of the driver side adjusting unit and the co-driver side operating unit is connected with the driver side adjusting unit. A changeover switch (6) either connects the driver side operating unit with the driver side adjusting unit or the co-driver side adjusting unit. The changeover switch circuit is manually connected by its unoperated condition with the driver side adjusting unit, and in its operated condition with the co-driver side adjusting unit, and automatically returns to it's original position after the expiry of a specified time.
