The test body is in the form of a carrier block (1) provided with a number of detectable elements, each of which is associated with a defined reference point, e.g. a circular recess (2a,2b,2c) formed in the surface of the carrier block. The detectable elements may be provided by cylindrical rods of varying height, fitted into respective circular recesses in the surface of the carrier block, for detection via optical surface sensors.
