The probe for taking ground samples consists of a tubular shaft (1) with a T-shaped hand grip at the top and a point (3) at the bottom. A long slit (4) extends upwards along the shaft to the point. A tube section (6) with a pedal (9) on the side can be slid or fixed on the shaft and is secured over the shaft by a clamp (7). An emptying piston (12) can be moved within the shaft. The pedal position can be fixed according to a scale (5) on the lower part of the shaft. This enables the user to take samples at a predetermined depth.
