METHOD FOR CHANGING THE CHARACTERISTICS OF A SHIP AND A HULL FORM OF AN ICEBREAKING SHIP

A method for improving the seakeeping characteristics of an icebreaking ship (20 ) so that the breadth of the ship's hull (21) will be decreased on the aft wide foreship (65) in the vicinity of the water lin e (22). It can be implemented with solid hull form or so that on the side of the hull there is a section (30) removable with r espect to the solid hull, location or position of which will be changed with respect to the hull. In the solid structure on side of the hull there will be formed a recess (60) and above it a reamer (70), rising towards the stern and formed by a sloping surface (71). The recess forms a pass between the bilge keel (24) and the reamer becoming wider towards the stern and joining the hull's narrower part of the aft body (64) of the ship.
