PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a red metallic pigment excellent in weather resistance and having high light brightness. SOLUTION: A coating layer on the surface of a powdery base material contains at least one kind of metal selected from aluminum, chromium, molybdenum, zinc, magnesium, tin, and silver in an amount of 0.5-20wt.%, and the red metallic pigment comprises a copper alloy having a crystallite diameter of <=40nm calculated by Scherrer's equation from the half-power band width of an X-ray diffraction peak of the coating layer. Since the crystallite diameter is fine, the grain boundary is increased, and the diffusions of atoms among crystal grains are suppressed. Weather resistance is improved. The alloy metal further forms a passive state coating film in the gain boundary, etc., to improve weather resistance and heat resistance.
