The invention relates to a device for compressing a gaseous medium or for creating a vacuum, comprising a propulsion engine and a liquid-spray-cooled compressor stage or pump lying along the same axis, with a coupling in between, a liquid separator located in the space between said propulsion engine and said liquid-spray-cooled compressor stage or pump and a fine liquid separator connected thereto. A filter and a fluid-activated radiator are located in the return pipe connecting said liquid separator to said compressor stage. The engine unit (1, 2, 3), including said liquid separator (4) is positioned vertically or at an angle deviating from the vertical position by up to 30 DEG and said liquid separator (4) is configured as a prismatic hollow body lying coaxially to the engine axle, encompassing the coupling (3). |
