PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ethylenic polymer excellent in moldability and giving films excellent in transparency and mechanical strength. SOLUTION: This ethylenic polymer is ethylene homopolymer or the copolymer of ethylene with a 4-20Cα-olefin, and has the following characteristics. A density (d) is 0.880-0.980g/cm<3> . A melt flow rate(MFR) is 0.01-200g/10min under a load of 2.16kg at 190 deg.C. A temperature [Tm( deg.C)] at the largest peak position in a heat absorption curve measured by a differential scanning calorimeter and the density (d) satisfy the inequality: Tm<400d-248. A decane-soluble component fraction (W) at room temperature and (d) satisfy the inequality: W<80×exp[-100(d-0.88)]+0.1. A metal tension [MT(g)] and a melt flow rate(MFR) (g/10min) at 190 deg.C satisfy the inequality: MT>2.2×MFR<-0.84> . An intrinsic viscosity [[η](dl/g)] measured in decalin at 135 deg.C and a melt flow rate (g/10min) satisfy the inequality: 2,00×MFR<-0.213> <=η]>1.58×MFR<-0.151> .
