PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new protein consisting of FtsQ protein having a specific amino acid sequence and originated from a coryne type bacterium, and playing an important role in formation and initiation of formation of the septum of procaryotes and useful for breeding and improving coryne type bacterium, etc. SOLUTION: This protein is a new FtsQ protein having the amino acid sequence expressed by the formula or an amino acid sequence obtained by deletion, substitution or addition of one or several amino acids in the above sequence and plays an important role in septum formation and its initiation during cell division of procaryotes and can control cell replication of industrially useful coryne type bacterium by breeding and improving coryne type bacterium by use of a DNA fragment containing this new protein's gene. The protein is obtained by screening its gene library by use of a ftsZ gene fragment obtained from chromosomal DNA of Brevibacterium flavum MJ-233 (FERM BP-1497) by means of PCR and expressing the obtained gene in host cells. |
