<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To comply with a sudden change of peripheral illuminance so as to avoid inconvenience by controlling ON-OFF of a headlight in compliance with a luminance distribution detected by means of a front view luminance distribution detecting means. SOLUTION: A headlight is constructed of a front view luminance distribution detecting means 1, a controller 2, a headlight ON-OFF switch 3, and a headlight optical axis regulating means 4, and in compliance with a luminance distribution detected by means of the front view luminance distribution detecting means 1, the headlight ON-OFF switch 3 is controlled so as to regulate an optical axis. A luminance distribution of a front view is measured, the headlight is turned on just in front of a tunnel entrance, an optical axis is regulated upward in comparison with a reference, and then, a condition inside a tunnel is checked. On the other hand, the optical axis is regulated to the reference direction in the inside of the tunnel, so that visibility can be secured without giving no glare to the opposite vehicle or the previous vehicle. In the vicinity of a tunnel exit, the optical axis is dipped down, and only the front dark road surface is irradiated, so that a luminance difference between the forward bright road surface is reduced and inconvenience can be eased.</p> |
