PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicine useful for preventing and/or treating inflammatory diseases such as inflammatory heart disease, e.g. myocarditis. SOLUTION: This preventing and/or treating agent for inflammatory diseases contains a substance selected from a group consisting of 1-(carbazol-4- yloxy)-3-[ 2-(ortho-methoxyphenoxy)ethyl}amino]-2-propanol and its optically active substance, and their pharmaceutically permissible salts as an active component. Necrosis of a tissue in an inflammatory tissue and/or infiltration of an inflammatory cell into a normal tissue can be reduced or rejected by using this agent.
