PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take excavated earth in at overbreak executed at excavation at a curve and to make turning easy for a shield machine by a method wherein auxiliary earth removers for taking in earth at ground from the sides of the shield machine are provided and made to communicate with a main earth remover. SOLUTION: In addition to a main earth remover 3 communicating with a face-side bulkhead 4 of a shield machine main body 1 for taking excavated earth in, auxiliary earth removers 6 and 7 for the left and the right sides are provided, and shielding gates are provided at positions near earth take-in ports and positions near parts communicating with the main earth remover 3. On executing work at a straight line, the main earth remover 3 only is used with the auxiliary earth removers 6 and 7 isolated by the shielding gates, and on executing work at a curve, either one of the auxiliary earth removers 6 or 7 is used together with the main earth remover, and earth taken in is carried to the outside by a belt conveyer or the like through the main earth remover 3. The auxiliary earth removers 6 and 7 can be applied to shield machines of expandable/contractile type. Accordingly, ground resistance at the sides of the shield machine main body 1 can be reduced effectively, and workabilities in execution at a curve and in execution at an extended width can be improved for the shield machine main body. |
