PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject dispersion capable of forming a high performance coloring layer or protecting layer, and further providing a thermosensitive recording material excellent in light resistance, etc., by using an emulsion polymerization product comprising a polymerizable monomer containing a ultraviolet-absorbing group, and a (meth)acrylic ester-based monomer introduced therein. SOLUTION: The objective dispersion contains a copolymer obtained by carrying out an emulsion polymerization of monomers consisting essentially of (A) a polymerizable monomer containing a ultraviolet-absorbing group [preferably, 2-(2'- hydroxy-5'-methacryloyloxyethylphenyl)-2H-benzotriazol] and (B) a (meth)acrylic ester- based monomer [e.g. methyl (meth)acrylate]. A modified or unmodified polyvinyl alcohol having 550-2400 degree of polymerization of 20-200wt.% based on the total amount of components A and B is preferably used as the emulsifier when producing the objective dispersion. The emulsion polymerization is preferably carried out by a two step polymerization comprising the foregoing step for polymerizing a polymerizable polyfunctional monomer and the component A, and the latter step for polymerizing monomer components containing the component B. |
