PURPOSE:To attain overwriting, to prevent the reduction of recording density and to prevent a crosstalk by setting the length of a recording bit in the shifting direction of a recording medium shorter than the radius of a optical beam spot. CONSTITUTION:Light beams from a laser beam source 1 irradiate a fine spot on the recording medium 7 through a beam splitter 2 and a converging lens 3. In irradiating the laser beams on the surface of a moving medium 7 as continuous pluses, the laser beams irradiate the medium 7 with synchronizing with clock signals, and signals corresponding to the presence and absence of recording are inputted to a magnetic head coil 4 by synchronizing with the clock signals, whereby the magnetizing corresponding to the generated magnetic field is recorded. In such a case, the laser pulses are synchronized as he magnetic field in the direction of normal recording, previously recorded recording magnetizing is degaussed and overwriting is attained. The radius of the beams are radiated for equal time, are impressed on the coil 4 for a pulse time which is shorter than a half of a laser irradiation time raising the temperature more than the prescribed one, whereby the length of the recording bits are shorter than the radius of the beam spot. |
