The system employs two components (11, 12) of magnetic material attached to sections of human tissue or similar so that their main faces (13, 14) of opposite polarity face one another and draw the edges of the tissue sections (2, 3) together. The magnetic components are made from moulding a mixture of a neutral and resorbable powder with magnetic particles, and are shaped so that they fit closely together, e.g. having edges which are respectively convex and concave or corrugated. For fastening together the ends of a wound in a tubular duct the magnetic components can be circular in shape.
