The flexible upright pocket is made from a flexible film (1) and comprises two folds (2) formed in the film thickness either side of an edge (4). An upper weld (5) extends along a side opposite the folds and two lateral welds (6) extend along the sides of the pocket. There are two separate shaped welds (8) for each fold fixing the two thicknesses of the fold to each other. These welds have the shape of a strip extending between one of the lateral welds and the fold edge. The shaped welds connect to the fold edge along a weld portion (8.2) extending perpendicular to the fold and have central rectilinear portions (8.3) inclined to the lateral welds. The surface of the welds is reduced resulting easier cooling during manufacture.
