The method involves transmitting data of a first predetermined transmission protocol with predetermined data transmission parameter via a transmission path (3,4). Real measurement values are determined which describe the faulty behaviour of the data transmission via a radio channel in dependence of the predetermined parameters. The real values and the first data protocol are transferred to a simulation unit (9). The data transmission is simulated with at least a further predetermined transmission protocol and changed parameters with respect to the transferred real values. The faulty behaviour of the transmission path can be determined for the at least further transmission protocol.
