The card printing machine includes a card feeder (10) supplying cards to a colour printing station (1) and a black and white printing station (2). These stations use thermal impression printing techniques, with a ribbon passing in front of the head. These are followed by a station which reverses the card (4). This includes a drum arranged to rotate the card through 180 degrees. After printing on both sides of the card in both colour and black and white, the card passes through a further station which applies the required electrical personalisation to it. The card then joins a stack (6).
