Coathanger of two-armed bow and fitted hook

One of the arms (1) is hinged to the second arm (2) which carries the hook (4) over a swivel angle of around 180 deg and the swivelling arm (1) has an extension (9) angled upwards at the hinged arm end. The extension has a groove (5) forming part of a notch system completed by a strip (6) on the second arm and fitting into the groove (5). An endstop (8) at the end of one or other arm is used to arrest the other arm when the coathanger is folded. The swivel arm is joined to the non-swivel arm by a return spring which in turn holds the swivel arm in its splayed condition. Additional components include the swivel joint (3) between the two arms. The hook (4) should be gripped by the hand, using the thumb of this hand to depress the extension (9) so as to splay out the arm (1) to a point where it is arrested by the strip (6) engaging in the groove (5). When the arms are converged, the endstop (8) halts arm (1) so the two arms can be gripped and closed up by hand simply, thus disengaging strip and groove to initiate sprung re-set.
