The person guide and information system includes a transponder (1) worn by each person, cooperating with electromagnetic transmission and reception antenna elements (3,10) within each room (12-15). Antenna elements are linked to a processor, allowing the location of each individual to be indicated on a display monitor screen. A passive transponder may be incorporated in an identity card carried by each person. A specific identification signal is compared with a corresponding code stored by the processor.
