A bridge made in a series of sections rests on cup bearings supported by piers. The bearing consists of an approximate flat section (1) attached to the bridge deck underface, which rests on a second approximate flat section (2) secured to the pier (13). The two bearing halves are linked by an anchorage (4) column which is non-movable within the lower bearing half (1), but has limited freedom of movement within the upper bearing half (2). The interface between the two bearing halves is saucer-shaped (5).
