Objects are compacted before being fed into the cutting region of the machine. A fragmentation machine for plastic objects comprises two parallel rows of rotating cutting rolls (1) with partially overlapping rotation regions. A compaction device is located in front of the inlet (4) for feeding objects into the machine and comprises one or more moving arms (2) for transporting the objects towards a compaction wall (3), after which the objects are broken up by the cutter tools (5) in the rows of rolls.
