Two pipe sections are joined by inserting the slightly smaller diameter (2) end of one pipe in the slightly larger diameter in the other (4). The smaller diameter pipe bears a cuff (9) with a flexible locking tab (1). The tab (1) is threaded through two adjacent slots in the end-section of the second pipe (4), folded back outside the slots and secured.
