A metal plate coated with a polyester resin in which the resin coating has a high hardness and excellent processability and has been embossed to impart an attractive appearance to the plate. The coated metal plate is obtained by coating a metal plate with a polyester resin which has an embossed surface and comprises either an unoriented polyester resin or a blend of a crystalline polyester resin and a lowly crystalline resin.
