The invention concerns a method for the configuration of a plurality of geographic cells connected to a common transmission/reception site of a cellular digital radio communication system. The site receives a plurality of base stations each associated with one of the cells and each defined by a separate BCCH carrier. The site is located in a zone that can be broken down into an inner ring, with a first traffic density, and at the centre of which the transmission/reception site is located, and an outer ring, with a second traffic density less than the first traffic density, and surrounding the inner ring. The invention is characterised in that the outer ring is supported by at least two first base stations (BTS1 to BTS4) each associated with a sector cell. Each first base station comprises a shaped-beam antenna (A1 to A4), with extended range, directly connected to a single first transmitting/receiving device (TRx 1 to TRx 4), the first transmitting/receiving device comprising a transmitter (Tx 1 to Tx 4) using the BCCH carrier (fBCCH, 1 to fBCCH, 4) peculiar to the first base station. The invention also concerns the transmission/reception site as such, with the different means it includes. |
