Low discharge resistant alkaline storage cell production

In the production of an alkaline storage cell with a sealed container containing a nickel sponge or fabric electrode support which is pasted with a mixture of nickel hydroxide, cobalt hydroxide and a binder and which is separated from a negative electrode by a separator, the finished cell is (a) charged at room temperature, preferably with a charge of 0.03-0.1 C; (b) stored without current at elevated temperature, preferably at 60-90 deg C for 4-24 hrs.; and then (c) put into operation by charging and discharging, preferably with a charge of 0.05-1 C.
