A putter has a symmetrical front face 50, a shaft 20 which screws into the body of the putter so that the head is detachable and also so that the shaft is adjustable for length and the shaft is anchored to the head so that the striking force of the player is passed through the centre of gravity of the head. The shaft may be locked into the head by the use of locking screws (not shown), the face may be provided with ribs 51 of friction material and the body of the club may have a sighting aid 31. Preferably the end of the head 30 has a boss 35 which fits into a hole in the putter face so that the ball is struck directly by the body of the club. A counterweight can be fixed to the rear of the body. |
