A pipe transition piece, esp. for joining synthetic and metal pipes, has a synthetic part (4) and a, esp. threaded (6), insert (2) with an annular groove (16). The groove (16) has at least one sidewall (18, 20) which is inclined to the longitudinal axis (22) and interlocks with a wedge-shaped synthetic ring (38) on the synthetic part (4). An elastic intermediate layer (40) is interposed in the region of the groove (16) between the insert (2) and the synthetic part (4) and/or the synthetic ring (38). Pref. the synthetic part (4) is pref. PVC or chlorinated PVC, although polypropylene, polyethylene or other synthetics are possible. It is injection moulded round a metal, pref. brass insert (2). The intermediate layer (40) is an elastomeric, e.g. rubber, tube and pref. extends the entire length of the insert (2). The insert (2) has a flange (32) with several recesses (34) into which projections (36) of the synthetic part (4) are injection moulded to guard against relative rotation. |
