[Also in Division E1] A method of driving a fastener into solid material e.g. concrete covered with a layer of pressure sensitive material comprises positioning over the layer a mask or support 8 which is braced against the solid material and, by use of a fastener driving tool e.g. a cartridgeactuated tool 1, 2 applied to the support, driving a fastener through an aperture 9 in the support and through the layer into the solid material. The support 8 is in the form of a plate provided with a handle 13 and a sleeve 7 located in the aperture 9 and welded therein, a portion 11 of the sleeve extends from the top surface of the plate in order to locate the driving tool. The sleeve is arranged to pass through a hole 5 formed in the layer which may be an insulating material such as foam glass, attached to the concrete by adhesive. |
