1,128,723. Boric acid recovery. HALCON INTERNATIONAL Inc. 24 May, 1967 [31 May, 1966], No. 24092/67. Heading C1A. [Also in Division C2] Boric acid is recovered from a borate estercontaining hydrocarbon oxidation mixture prepared by liquid phase reaction between molecular oxygen and a C 4-20 hydrocarbon feedstock more than 95 molar per cent of which consists of saturated hydrocarbon in the presence of a boron compound capable of forming an ester with alcohol formed during the oxidation by hydrolysis of the oxidation mixture with an aqueous stream in a hydrolysis zone, separating the resultant mixture into an oxygenated organics stream and an aqueous boric acidcontaining stream, separatng a first crop of boric acid crystals from said aqueous boric acid stream leaving an aqueous boric acid mother liquor, withdrawing a purge stream from the aqueous boric acid-containing mother liquor, recovering from this purge stream a second crop of solid boric acid and returning this to the hydrolysis zone. An example is given.
