PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a refilling time of ink to a printing cartridge mounted on a carriage, to ensure certainty of a volume of ink refilling, and to set a vacuum-pressure of the printing cartridge. SOLUTION: A height of each of ink storage tanks 80-86 for an ink cartridge outside a carriage is varied so that a quantity of refilled ink to each of inner storage tanks in printing cartridges 70-76 is controlled. When the quantity of the ink in each of the inner storage tanks is little, the ink in the respective ink storage tank 80-86 outside the carriage is sucked into the inner storage tank in the respective printing cartridge 70-76 by the vacuum-pressure in the inner storage tank connected to the respective ink storage tank 80-86 outside the carriage. At that time, the height of each of the ink storage tanks 80-86 outside the carriage is varied, then the vacuum-pressure is adjusted, thereby the quantity of the ink sucked into the inner storage tank is controlled. |
