PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a projecting material and a sticking material hindering low floating performance of a magnetic head by using a polishing tape by applying a mixture of abrasive grains and a binder solution to a filamentous support body. SOLUTION: A mixture of abrasive grains 2 and a binder liquid 3 is uniformly applied to a periphery of a filamentous support body 1, and a filamentous support body polishing tape 4 is formed. Therefore, the necessity of a slit is eliminated, and falling-off of the abrasive grains and a binder is restrained, and embedment of the abrasive grains 2 in a magnetic recording medium surface and a stain sticking to the binder can be restrained. A fishline or the like using a cotton thread or the like as a main component is used as the filamentous support body 1. It is better that a thickness of the thread is a core diameter smaller than a width of a magnetic head slider. A thickness of a binder layer is set to about 1/10 to about 1/100 of the core diameter, and flexibility is imparted. A magnetic medium is rotated and the filamentous support body polishing tape 4 is pressed against its surface, and the magnetic medium is moved and polished in the radial direction by a feed smaller than the core diameter. A projecting material and a sticking material of a surface can be uniformly removed thereby. |
