PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composite, suppressed in odor, and excellent in sustainability of antimicrobial effect, thermal stability and heat resistance, by impregnating a porous, inorganic compound with a clathrate having iodophor included in a cyclodextrin. SOLUTION: This composite obtained by impregnating (A) a porous, inorganic compound with (B) a clathrate having (i) a cyclodextrin as the host molecule including (ii) iodophor as the guest molecule. Preferable compounds for the component (i) includeα-,β- andγ-cyclodextrin, and maltosyl cyclodextrin. The component (ii) is a composite of iodine supported by a surface active agent or polymer, preferably having an effective iodine content of 5 to 20wt.%. The component A is preferably has an average particle size of 1.0 to 50mm, pore volume of 0.1 to 2.0ml/g and a pH of <=9 (5% slurry). The component (i)/ component (ii) wt. ratio is preferably 0.5:99.5 to 40.0:60.0.
