MESSAGE DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display the messages which can be easily recognized by users by detecting one of lightness and hue of the area that is decided by a display position deciding means and deciding the colors of messages based on the detection result. SOLUTION: In regard to the images stored in an image memory 103, a window (processing area) is set in every message display candidate area and a histogram processing circuit 108 decides the density frequency distribution of the relevant area to store it in a histogram memory 109. Then the mean value and the dispersion value of brightness are calculated by the prescribed expressions based on the value of the memory 109. Based on the dispersion value of brightness, a message display area having the minimum dispersion value is selected. Then the display color of a message 504 is decided in black and white when the mean value of brightness of the selected area is larger and smaller than the prescribed value respectively.
