PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To replace components easily without using a special tool and a technical serviceman by composing an ink distribution system of a set of a print head, an ink container, and a print head service module. SOLUTION: The printer is equipped with four ink jet cartridges 70, 72, 74, 76 for black, yellow, magenta and cyan, for instance. Each ink distribution system is provided with three components: extra-carriage ink containers 80, 82, 84, 86, carriage-mounted print cartridges 70, 72, 74, 76 and a head cleaner. Ink is refilled by supporting the extra-carriage ink containers 80 to 86 on a refilling platform in the left housing 56 of the printer 50, and connecting flexible pipes 150, 152, 154, 156 between ports for the containers 80-86 and needle valves 160, 162, 164, 166 supported by a refilling station housing 170. |
