The stitch chains between successive workpieces are cut by a cutter 12 and then carried by a draught of air in a direction opposite to the feed direction to be subsequently held in place on the face of the next workpiece by the following chain stitches used for seaming the workpiece. Before the chain is cut a few chain stitches are produced in the workpiece. A suction tube 16 and/or a blowing tube 14 are provided to move the thread chain. The conveyor moving the workpieces is stopped during cutting and is controlled by photocells 11, 18. |
