PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a ceiling-suspended-type heat exchanging unit compact without losing its performance. SOLUTION: In a heat exchanger 4, a plurality of plate-like elements 43, 43,... are piled with a given gap such that a first flow passage 71 and a second flow passage 72 which air flow directions are arranged approximately perpendicular to each other can be formed between each pair of plate-like elements 43, 43,.... Such a heat exchanger 4 is formed in an annular shape and is arranged such that the heat exchanger 4 faces a suction grill 3 which is positioned at the lower end of a casing 1. Due to such a construction, for example, compared to a case in which the heat exchanger 4 is formed in a rectangular parallelepiped, the planar space of the casing 1 is utilized more effectively so that the piling number of the plate-like elements 43, 43... which constitute the heat exchanger 4 can be increased. Accordingly, for example, assuming that the necessary heat transfer surface of the heat exchanger 4 is equal as a whole, as the piling number of the plate-like elements 43 is increased, the shape of the plate-like element becomes more compact so that the planar shape of the casing 1 can be made narrower and thinner thus readily realizing a heat exchanging unit having a compact construction. |
