<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a degree of freedom of drawing up of a program by correctly reproducing video data at a receiver side in the case of multiplexing video data with different resolution and transmitting the multiplexed data. SOLUTION: First digital data 4 obtained by coding a low resolution digital video signal with a low resolution compression coding means 13 and second digital data 5 obtained by coding a high resolution digital video signal with a high resolution compression coding means 16 are multiplexed with a packet including information relating to a program describing identification information to identify both the digital data 4, 5 and the resulting data are transmitted. At a receiver side 22, decoding means 28,30 identify the digital data 4, 5 and reproduce them by corresponding decoding means 28, 30 respectively.</p> |
