摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain a polymer having narrow polydispersibility and easily to obtain a block copolymer, by polymerizing a specific unsaturated monomer in the presence of a radical polymerization initiator and a nitroxide compound. SOLUTION: This method of radical polymerization is to polymerize (C) a radically polymerizable unsaturated monomer having <=14(kcal/mol) bond dissociation energy with an ingredient B in the presence of (A) 0.05-20.0wt.% of a radical polymerization initiator based on the total monomer and (B) 10-0.5 molar ratio [(the ingredient A)/(the ingredient B)] of a nitroxide compound, which is a compound having a radical with a structure expressed by the formula in the molecule. The above mentioned bond dissociation energy is a value of a bond dissociation energy in a reaction expressed by the reaction equation: M.+I→M-I (M is a radical of the ingredient C; I is the ingredient B) calculated by using a semi-empiric molecular orbital method described in the reference [Macromolecules 28, 1841 (1995)].
