IMAGE FORMATION AND DEVICE FOR DIAGNOSIS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image formation method for diagnoses and a CT scanner used for it. SOLUTION: A radiation source for generating a conical radiation beam 14 and a two-dimensional radiation detector are made to advance in a longitudinal direction to an image formation volume and advance continuously helically around it. Data are reconstituted to volume images and stored. During a surgical operation, an X-ray source is intermittently operated with the angle interval of 60 deg. for instance at low radiation intensity. The additional data are reconstituted to the three-dimensional image display of an instrument for the surgical operation and stored. An operator image selection processor 60 is provided and a similar section or the other image display is retrieved from the memory of data retrieval circuits 62a and 62b. Retrieved data are synthesized 64 and the instrument superimposed on anatomical images is indicated. The volume image of the instrument for the surgical operation is continuously updated and real time display for indicating the advancing state of the instrument for the surgical operation passed through an image formation area is obtained.
